The ECSA – European Citizen Science Association 2022 Conference on Planetary Health in now over and FEMaLer Liv Juul Nielsen representing partner Aarhus University has reflected on her experience at the conference and wants to share her thoughts:

“Before I went to the ECSA conference I did not know that “citizen science was female”, as Johannes Vogel presented it in his opening speech. But after attending I realised that he was right, and that we in FEMaLe already are using the mindset and some of the concepts from citizen science.

I also discovered that citizen science is not just user involvement, but that it covers a much broader topic. This includes ensuring the sustainability of the interventions after the project period. That citizen science is strongly related to human and planetary health.

And that the knowledge generated enriches both the society, the individual participants and the researchers working with citizen science.”
